DataPage+ – An All New SPC tool set for metrology

The days when using SPC was optional, when it was something that might be worth investigating someday are long gone. Today, any company that wants to be competitive knows that SPC is the most useful processes control tool available. Wilcox Associates is pleased to introduce the all new DataPage+ program. Completely re-engineered from the ground up, it takes all the best features of DataPage and Dataview and rolls them into a completely new user interface, with a non-proprietary database and completely customizable monitoring and reporting tools.

Measurement data is often scattered throughout a manufacturing plant: gathered using a variety of devices such as CMMs, laser trackers, articulating arms, vision systems, theodolites, calipers, height gages, and so on. Results are created in differing formats, and often remain in isolation, stuck with the device. DataPage+ allows you collect all your measurement data from any EMS suite program such as PC-DMIS CMM, PC-DMIS Vision, and PC-DMIS Portable, plus import data in a variety of of other formats and automatically build a Microsoft SQL Express* database of results. With all results in a single database, large volumes of information gathered from various devices can be incorporated into a centralized depository. The DataPage+ software user can easily migrate and manage data, perform correlation studies, and customize output formats to satisfy many manufacturing applications. Since the SQL database is a standard format, data can be imported and exported from other programs and sources with access to the database, opening up a wealth of options for customization.

Data Viewing and Charting

DataPage+ offers a variety of options for "Dashboard" viewing of data in real-time. Custom polling intervals for incoming data can be set, allowing monitoring of important processes on a real-time basis. Individual features of interest can be monitored on the "feature monitor" screen, which can show shopfloor operators at a glance if procesess are running within control limits. Multiple types of charts, histograms and graphs can be organized for real-time viewing and monitoring, with drill-down capabilities for individual data points.

The unique capabilities of DataView have been significantly expanded in DataPage+. A CAD file** of the part can be imported into DataPage+, and viewed "live" inside the program, or incorporated into a report output. Visualization of features of interest along with live data means it's easier than ever to visually associate the measurement data directly back to features on the part being made.

Reporting

In a manufacturing environment, several people or departments may need real time measurement information for troubleshooting and resolving production issues quickly. An SPC report is only useful when it is quick to read, and easy to understand. Datapage+ has integrated many advancements in the area of visual reporting of statistical data. The software provides functionality to generate statistical plots such as Run Charts, Histograms, and textual reports all can be customized via a template builder to create compelely customized layouts. Several types of statistical plots can be arranged on a single page.

The ability to show the part's CAD file embedded in the report with customized flags for specific features is especially powerful. SPC data has never been so visual. The ability to quickly associate the data with a specific feature on a part makes interpretation fast and easy. Improvements to this feature in DataPage+ include showing the CAD as a solid model, and now the CAD file can be rotated or zoomed and the leader lines and flags rearranged and customized during report creation. This is useful if you want to show different views of the model on different pages of the report, or zoom in to specific areas on a large part. Different types of label formats allow you to show the data according to your preferences, with color coded tolerances.

Once the user sets up a report, the software automatically takes its information from the database, which eliminates all manual data entry… a laborious bottleneck for any quality assurance department. Subsequent versions of the report can be updated with new data sets, or appended to the existing data set.

Reports can be organized exactly as you want them with report editing tools. Pages can be rearranged, additional data and annotations, added, and the results can be exported in a variety of formats including PDF and XPS. Individual data sets can be expored in XLS or CSV formats (including Data, Variable, ISIR or Excel spreadsheet).
